The police chief shall have power to appoint a properly qualified employee who shall be designated the Assistant Chief. The Assistant Chief is authorized to perform, and shall perform, all duties of the Chief during such times when the Chief is unavailable or unable to perform same. Any official act of the Assistant Chief taken in the absence of the Chief shall be valid and binding to the same extent as if done by the Chief. (Ord. 18-04 (part), 2018)
